Hey- what are the shows where Phil does the roll multiple times? I know they're out there, I just can't remember them (it happens in your '50's!)

Here's a great one. Listening to it this morning brings back memories of being there. What an awesome theater.

Me too. I feel so lucky to have seen them in some truly gorgeous places. The Stanley and the Uptown get my vote as Perfect Indoor Places. And comparatively small, so the band looked like people and not distant puppets.

Thanks, folks, for all the TOO recs. I know most of those shows (not all), but I'm amazed how it sticks in folks' minds that it's a double intro. I'm impressed. Stick another forum thread onto the bookmarks :-)

I agree re small venues. I was fortunate enough, in the relatively later days, to see many JGB shows at The Stone where you could talk shit to Jer, and get the same back, and to sit in smoking jacket smoking (s)opium(?) with my feet on stage at The Fox. The move from theaters to coliseums changed a lot of things.

Wow! V Cool...the smallest I went to were things like the Keystone, and they still had a strong segregationist approach re: band/fans...Did see Kingfish at a tiny bar in the E Bay in 75 or so, and it was SMALL...Bob spit all over me, as you could stand right in front, eyeball to eyeball.

I was in HS, and sat with all the bandmate's "special lady friends" (at least they seemed so much more than groupies?), by pure chance (roadies let us in the back door while having a smoke outside) and they all spoke very highly of Bob...I sat, more excited about being near them, ahem, than Bob...I had my priorities straight, even then. One of them gave me a friendly pat (17 and 25? The age difference doesn't seem so large now).

The classic, of course is the monster Other One at Cape Cod where Phil just lets go 3 times with the Earthquake Intro: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1979-10-27.sbd.miller.98950.sbeok.flac16
Another lesser known one is this one from San Diego in 1982. Phil does the roll numerous times in a very intense TOO: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1982-02-19.fob.sonyecm220t.keshavan.miller.94395.sbeok.flac16

My favorite Other One - read reviews of this energetic show...

Don't forget to listen to the space TOO...

He busts the intro out 5 times in this version (pretty sure...). ANd he is WAY up in the mix. Just an all out phil phest in this source, awesome stuff, even with the serious sound issues.

He also does it about 3 times in 1973-05-26 but if i recall correctly the first two times are flubbed, hence why phil does it a few times.

Here is a rare TOO D/S TOO Sandwich. Phil does the big bomb roll at the start of each sandwich slice and also another just as Bobby starts the first verse.

Scary $#!+ man! All that paisely tinfoil wallpaper at the Aladdin made for an interesting after show experience...not to mention the police line we had to cross to get into the casino after the show.
